Jewel Box

A very big little project. Though the actual amount of addition was minimal (424 SF) the change to the building was both big and small. Our mandate was to create a new and daring addition to the home while maintaining the integrity of the original architect’s vision. Brick columns were retained or re-built and the new structure was knitted into the old in the roof plane. Skylights changed the daylight profile of the home and views were linked to create a cohesive home in nature. The home became all-electric, insulated, laundry filters microplastics and sustainable woods such as Sassafras were used. Client’s taste in color, art, and light completed the vision.
