Thanksgiving House

‘Tis the season. Happy holidays to all.
Out of all holidays to celebrate this season, Thanksgiving is my favorite. Living far from our relatives, we host a big event with our urban tribe. It is an all-day affair, from breakfast through to bedtime, with food jointly prepped and served in courses. For years, we’ve hosted this at our small Bernal home. Recently we had the opportunity to buy a house in Stinson Beach with one of our Thanksgiving friends. Now we have a new place to hold Thanksgiving.
The actual house was a “wooden” tent that still needs a bit of work but the setting is idyllic on a butterfly preserve. We worked all fall getting the Thanksgiving house ready for the big day.
Friends came for weekend yard work days. MT DevCo demolished a dangerous parking structure and built new entry stairs. David Van Dyke from Riverwood Construction signed on just in time to get our kitchen ready for Thanksgiving. It was a bit of a reality show reveal. David’s crew accomplished the work in just over a week leaving on Thanksgiving Eve and helping us attach legs to our slab table on their way out the door. Even though we still have much work to do our gathering was exactly what we envisioned when we bought the house with friends.
Wishing you many happy holiday gatherings.
