Black and White Kitchens

Like wine makers who buy the same grapes but make totally different wines, these homes all feature black and white kitchens. While the color palette is the same, the home’s architecture and their occupant’s lifestyle provide the change in design flavor.

In one bachelor’s classic Edwardian we used a very thin European Style shaker rail on the white painted overhead doors paired with hot rolled steel doors on the lower cabinets. Best part is the bar adjacent to the outdoor deck, ready for a party.

In another Beaux Arts condo we paired white flat front cabinets with milk glass overheads and grey wood accents. A classic modern intervention in a classical building.

What tour of black and white kitchens would be complete without a look at a traditional white raised panel door kitchen in a Victorian filled with traditional detail. The owners call the home “Lady Liberty” a nod to all the wedding cake woodwork throughout. We stayed true to the style but painted all the surfaces the same soft white for an updated monochromatic look.
